Tui Na massage is part of traditional Chinese medicine. A survey organised by the British Acupuncture Council, confirmed that Tui Na was the main treatment used in combination with Acupuncture in the UK.
This therapy is a series of pressing, tapping and kneading techniques which promote the harmonious flow of Qi, allowing the body to naturally heal itself. Tui Na can range from light stroking techniques to deep-tissue work. The practitioner concentrates on specific acupressure points, trigger points and muscles and joints.
Tui na has no side effects and is well suited for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and stress related disorders of the digestive and respiratory system. Tui na however, cannot be administered when a person is contra-indicated. Examples of contra-indications are fractures and open wounds.
